# Create Chart

> Create a chart / graph in a Google Sheet

Create a chart / graph in a Google Sheet. Supported chart types: column, line, bar, area, or pie. Set its alt text to retrieve later and embed into Google Slides presentations.

## Inputs

| `spreadsheet` | string | Yes | - | Google Sheets spreadsheet URL or ID. You must ask the user for it if not provided. |
| `sheet` | string or SelectItem | Yes | - | The sheet where the chart will be created. Accepts a sheet name or sheet ID formats like other sheet operations. |
| `chart_title` | string | No | - | Title to display on the chart. Optional. |
| `alt_text` | string | No | - | Alt text (description) to assign to the chart. Helps retrieve/embed the chart later using Get Chart or Slides Add Sheets Chart operations. If omitted, you can still reference the chart by its ID once created. |
| `range` | string | Yes | - | Data range in A1 notation (single contiguous block) including headers, e.g. "A1:D20" or "A1:B10". First row is treated as headers. First column becomes the domain (labels). Remaining columns become data series. For PIE charts you need at least two columns (labels + values). |
