# Upload Media

> Uploads an image to OpenAI Ads and returns its file_id

Uploads an image to OpenAI Ads and returns its file\_id. Use it to prepare a creative for openai\_ads\_update\_ad or to reuse one image across several ads; for creating a new ad with new media prefer openai\_ads\_create\_ad, which uploads the image automatically.
