> Merges one Google Tag Manager container into another: the source container's tags, triggers, and variables move to the target container and the source is retired

Merges one Google Tag Manager container into another: the source container's tags, triggers, and variables move to the target container and the source is retired. This cannot be undone.

| | |
| - | - |
| **App** | Google Tag Manager |
| **Operation ID** | `gtm_combine_containers` |
| **Type** | Action |
| **Connection** | `gtm` (required) |
| **Credits per run** | 1 |
| **Agent / MCP tool** | Yes |
| **Requires approval** | Yes (write operation) |

## Inputs

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `account` | DynamicAccount | Yes | - | Select the Google Tag Manager account. |
| `container` | DynamicAccount | Yes | - | Select the target container. It absorbs everything from the source container and remains after the merge. |
| `source_container` | DynamicAccount | Yes | - | Select the source container. Its tags, triggers, and variables are moved into the target container, and the source container is retired by the merge. This cannot be undone. |
| `setting_source` | enum (`current`, `other`) | No | `current` | Which container's settings the merged container keeps: current (the target container's settings) or other (the source container's settings). |
| `allow_user_permission_feature_update` | boolean | No | - | Set to true to allow the merge when it would enable per-user permission features on the target container. The API rejects the merge otherwise. |

## Output

**Type**: `Dict`

Returns the merged container as provided by the Tag Manager API.
