# Update Keyword Status

> Updates the status of Google Ads Keywords (enable, pause, or remove)

Updates the status of Google Ads Keywords (enable, pause, or remove)

| | |
| - | - |
| **App** | Google Ads |
| **Operation ID** | `gads_update_keyword_status` |
| **Type** | Action |
| **Connection** | `gads` (required) |
| **Credits per run** | 1 |
| **Agent / MCP tool** | Yes |
| **Requires approval** | Yes (write operation) |

## Inputs

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `account` | GadsAccountItem or object or array of object or string or integer | Yes | - | Select the Google Ads account, ask user for it if not provided |
| `update_type` | string or SelectableOption | Yes | - | Choose whether to update a single Keyword or multiple Keywords at once. Available options: 'single' (Single Update), 'bulk' (Bulk Updates) |
| `keyword_id` | string or SelectableOption | No | - | Required for 'single' update mode. Accepts any of: a bare numeric criterion ID (must be combined with ad\_group\_id to be unambiguous; the same keyword text can share a criterion\_id across multiple ad groups), '\<adGroupId>~~\<criterionId>', or a full resource path 'customers/\<cust>/adGroupCriteria/\<adGroupId>~~\<criterionId>'. |
| `ad_group_id` | string or SelectableOption | No | - | Optional ad group ID for 'single' update mode. Strongly recommended when keyword\_id is a bare criterion ID, since the same criterion\_id can belong to multiple ad groups. Ignored if keyword\_id already encodes the ad group. |
| `status` | string or SelectableOption | No | - | Available options: 'ENABLED', 'PAUSED', 'REMOVED'. Required for 'single' update mode |
| `structured_data` | array (also accepts a comma-separated string) | No | - | Required when update type is 'bulk'. Each row/object must contain 'keyword\_id' and 'status', and SHOULD also contain 'ad\_group\_id' to disambiguate keywords that exist in multiple ad groups (a bare criterion\_id can resolve to multiple ad groups, in which case the operation will error rather than silently target the wrong one). 'keyword\_id' may also be passed as '\<adGroupId>\~\<criterionId>' or as a full resource path. |
